Text: Psalm 124:1-6

Psalms 124:1

(1) If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, now may Israel say; (2) If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, when men rose up against us. (3) Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us: (4) Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul. (5) Then the proud waters had gone over our soul. (6) Blessed be the Lord, who hath not given us as prey to their teeth.

INTRODUCTION

There are two sides of thanksgiving:

  1. Thanking God for what He has done in the past.
  2. Thanking God in advance for what we anticipate that God is able to do.

Blessed is the nation whose God is Lord. Except the Lord builds a house, they labor in vain that build it, Except the Lord watches over a city, the watchmen waketh but in vain (121:1).

You didn’t keep yourself through the year 2020 by just obeying the rules but the Lord kept and secured every one of us.

Even if you think you don’t have a reason to thank the Lord follow the saying of the scriptures in Psalms 113.

Your thanksgiving apart for the fact that you are taking a critical look at the past year is also laying a foundation for you in years to come.

This year as we come into Gods presence it says ‘Enter His gates with Thanksgiving’ (Psalms 100:4), enter with the password THANKYOU. Without that password you can’t have access. We are coming into this year believing that this year offers the best for us and we are by God’s grace entering into a new dawn (we are fully secured in HIM).

And all the troubles of the year past are gone and gone forever.

CONCLUSION

One thing you must go with this year is Psalms 124:8.

PRAYER

The God who helped you to kill the lion and the bear, the same God will bring down goliath before you, you will not be missing, the hand of the lord will do valiantly on your behalf you will return back with singing at the end of the year 2021 in Jesus name. Amen.
