Thanksgiving; Glorifying God as God ~ Pst. Soji Oni

Topic: Thanksgiving; Glorifying God as God
Text: Rom 1:21
Speaker: Pst. Soji Oni
Most of the times when we see things happen in our lives, we know that the source is from God but we don’t give God the glory. We tend to appreciate men more than God.
Today’s message intends that we learn to appreciate God in His capacity.
Who is God?
1. God is the source of our survival.
If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up against us:
Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us:
2. He is our provider.
3. He is our peace giver.
4. He is the one that makes things happen for us.
5. Psalms 91:1 – He is the almighty.
There is no amount of wealth that can stand without the blessings of God.
He is the giver of health. Without good health, wealth can be reduced to nothing. Some have spent all they’ve made in trying to treat an ailment that never could be treated.
May the devourer not enter your purse.
It is the blessing of God that maketh rich and added no sorry unto it.
It is God’s hand that shields the wicked from you.
How to know if you’re not glorifying God as God:
1. Do you love God as God?
• God demands that you put Him first.
• Until you appreciate God as God you cannot do appreciable things.
An example, the widow of Zarephath. She honored God more than herself and she was thereafter blessed.
2. Do you release yourself for God’s use?
Romans 12:1
3. Do you give quality Offering?
Malachi 1:6-8
6 ¶ A son honoureth his father, and a servant his master: if then I be a father, where is mine honour? and if I be a master, where is my fear? saith the LORD of hosts unto you, O priests, that despise my name. And ye say, Wherein have we despised thy name?
7 Ye offer polluted bread upon mine altar; and ye say, Wherein have we polluted thee? In that ye say, The table of the LORD is contemptible.
8 And if ye offer the blind for sacrifice, is it not evil? and if ye offer the lame and sick, is it not evil? offer it now unto thy governor; will he be pleased with thee, or accept thy person? saith the LORD of hosts.
• When you give to God, God does not owe anybody.
• God can’t owe you so don’t offer the blind to God.
• Do not forget God’s benefits.
As I conclude, I want to encourage you that God is the pillar that holds our lives. He has everything for us. Give Him thanks He is worthy of. Give like Solomon. God appreciates.
