INTRODUCTION

The word thank you is so powerful that it goes a long way to be of great blessings to our lives. Today we have many reasons to thank God. Sometimes, you just need to forget about what God has not done which you are probably trusting him for and focus on the things that he has done for you, because when you think of the things that he has done, it strengthens your faith to believe him for things he has not done. Also note that what you are trusting God for and only tarry for a moment, he that will come will still come.

THERE ARE MANY REASONS TO THANK GOD FOR:

1.         You need to thank God for things that you asked for that he has done. Psalms 18:6 “In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.” David said “my cry entered into his ear”. That’s a lot, for God to hear your cry: Isaiah 59:1-2 “Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear”. In other words, God has put aside your iniquity and had allowed your cry to enter into his ear; that is why David said “Blessed are those whose iniquities has been wiped away”.

2.         You need to thank God for things you asked for that he has not done. Thank him for it because these are miracles in waiting for you. Sometimes when you are crying for God to do something, God himself is waiting for you to come into the manifestation of that same thing. Just like there are many things that grows in the ground but the one that takes longer time are those that have deeper root in the ground. You sometimes, God has finished the work in the realm of the spirit but the time of manifestation is what he is waiting for to manifest. The life of Zacharias and his wife Elizabeth is a clear example in Luke 1; they were praying and trusting God for the fruit of the womb but yet God saw them as special being to accomplish special assignment in a time when the Messiah will come. The birth of Samuel to Hannah is another valid example for us to take note of, so we can thank God even in delay. Romans  8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose”.

3.         You need to thank God for things contrary to your plan: When things seem to be working contrary to your plan sometimes, learn to give God thanks as long as you are connected to him because you might just be on the path to fulfilling destiny unknown to you. I’m sure that when Joseph was sold to slavery after having a wonderful dream concerning his future, he would probably be thinking why it happened to him. Yet he was a man who still trusted God to the very end. Bible say “He maintained his integrity”. Meanwhile, his being sold to slavery was only a fulfillment of a phase of his destiny. Job also said in Job 13:15 “Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him” God told Abraham “Walk before me”. God’s covenant remains unchanged, so thank him even if things seems to be working contrary in your plan. Isaiah  55:8-9 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts”.

4.         Thank God for things you didn’t ask for that he is doing for you: How many of us remember the last time we prayed for oxygen, yet being the most important thing man needs to survive, God gives to all even when we don’t ask for it. Every good and perfect gift comes from above. Psalms  68:19 “Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.” He daily loads us with blessings. There are several battles that the Lord GOD fights for us and we are not aware, except he reveals it to us.

The things to thank God for are too numerous but we will take a look at something crucial in “2 Peter  1:3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:”. What is life? Life is defined as the period between birth and death, it is also the experience of staying alive within this period. The bible says God has given us all things, in other words God has supplied us all things we need to live. If he fails to supply us these things, we cannot live. John  10:10 “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” For children of God, when you have given your life to Christ you don’t die anymore. Life is everything to us,  “Ecclesiastes  9:4 For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion.” No matter what you possess on earth, the day you breathe your last breath, everything is gone. So once there is life there is hope for you. God has guaranteed us that as long as we are in him, everything we need is supplied.

CONCLUSION

Still in 2 Peter 1:3, God has also given us everything that pertains to godliness. Forget about what you are faced with, the only thing we need to do is hold on to God. Remember we have been called to glory and virtue, that is why God has supplied. Rom. 12:1 “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.” The first thing anyone should do in life is to allow God have authority to over his life.
