Securing your destiny by the prevailing Word ~ Pst. Soji Oni

Topic: Securing your destiny by the prevailing Word.
Text: Prov 4:20-22
Speaker: Pst. Soji Oni

Regardless of what you’re faced with if you face the word your troubles would be over.

From our text, we see Solomon tell his son how to handle the words he speaks to him. He says

20 ¶ My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.

21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.

22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

What it means to pay attention:

  • To pay attention means to take notice of something.
  • Paying attention means regarding something or someone as interesting or important.

What it means to be inclined to something:

  • To incline means to be favourably disposed towards something or willing to do something.
  • Incline means to make sure your eyes are fastened to something.
  • When your eyes are fastened to something, your heart retains it.
  • And if God’s word is kept in kept in your heart it would never depart from you

Solomon in our text went further to tell his son why he should develop these attitudes towards the word spoken to him. He said

22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

  • The word is not life and health to everybody but to those who find them.
  • There is solution in God’s word to whatever you’re faced with.
  • If you don’t give priority to God’s word, there is little or nothing the word can do for you.
  • The word you give attention to now would attend to you now and in future.

Eccl 9:4

  • Whether you are the poorest today as long as you have life, you can be among one of the richest in your time.

… For a living dog is better than a dead lion.

2 Pet. 1:3

3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

  • Without the knowledge of God’s word, you stand to benefit nothing from the word.
  • By the knowledge of the word, you can have peace in tribulation.
  • Goliath was actually defeated by the word of God in the mouth of David and not necessarily by a stone.

Joshua 1:8

  • If you want to have good success, then give attention to God’s word.

Proverbs 25:2

It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.

  • Discovery brings recovery. What you don’t discover you may not be able to recover.
  • No matter what your life has been, you can embrace the provision of God and receive your change.
  • Everything in scripture is of value.

John 5:38-39

38 And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not.

39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

  • Give priority to God’s word; it is very important.
  • The word you hide inside of you would preserve you and would take you to your destiny.
  • There is a crown in the crisis you face.

Acts 2:2-4

The above passage is an account of when the Apostles had to separate the ministry of prayer and the word of God from other service in the early church. The issue of the ministry of the word is so paramount that more attention has to be given to it.

PROPHECY: Wherever you go, God would make you a joy.

  • When you give attention to the word it would take flesh in you.
  • Meditate on the word, keep speaking it and do it.
  • It is by paying attention to the word that would know those things that have been freely given to you.

PROPHECY: Your story would change your generation.

In conclusion, I encourage to pay attention to the Word. Take the word of God back to Him and you would see what the LORD would do for you.
