Matthew 5:48

Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

INTRODUCTION

All of us, in one way or the other occupies a leadership position.

Leadership, according to the dictionary is the action of leading a group of people or organization.

Excellence, is the quality of been outstanding or really good.

One of the best way to attain excellence is to chronicle the life of someone who has excel in every area of His life and of cause, there is no other person we can choose as a model other than our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

If we are to achieve Leadership Excellence as Jesus did in His time, then we need to look into His life and look at the instruction He has given on how excellence should actually be achieved.

Excellence is also perfection, be ye perfect as your father which is in heaven (Matthew 5:48), so the goal of every believer on earth is to be perfect and attain excellence, that’s what God has designed us for.

The Bible said also in Hebrews 12:2, that we should actually be looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, so when you want to make comparison of what you aspire to be in life, you have to look at the life of Jesus and nothing short of that because He is the perfect example.

Jesus told us what leadership is all about in Mark 10:42-45, here he tried to distinguish between us and the people of the world. 1 peter 2:9, out of many, you were choosing out, a generation chosen by God specially. Your life is meant to showcase the praises of God.

AFFIRMATION: My Life will showcase the Praises of GOD!

Don’t try to be the first, but be the BEST. Make sure you go for the best in the sight of GOD (God’s grace is sufficient). If you are going to be the best, you must forget about what people say (Criticism).

HOW DID JESUS OPERATE

1. Jesus operated for 3^1/2  years but He spent 30 years of His life to prepare for His Ministry. He raised 12 ordinary men that turned the world upside down (Acts 4). You must have a particular assignment that has been packaged for your life if you are going into excellence (Preparation is key).
2. Before Jesus Christ left, He has institutionalized the ministry (whatever you do, do it well).
3. Jesus was always having quality time with His disciples, mentorship is a deliberate effort, have a team that you are developing and spend quality time (trainings) with them if you are leading. Mark 1:35
4. He was time conscious; you cannot be excellent when you are not mindful of time. John 9:4, Ephesians 5:15-16.
5. Jesus is more about quality than quantity. Excellence is not about quantity but quality.
6. Quality (Excellence) is not just about the answer but how you arrived at the answer.
7. He thought us the importance of knowledge. Matthew 15:14. You cannot be excellent in leading when you lead without knowledge.

CONCLUSION

The lord wants you to distinguish yourself in your leadership position as a believer. And the starting point is with Jesus!

PRAYER

Heavenly father, help me, let me be the best in every area of my life, let my life stand out amongst everyone in everything I do.

PRAYER OF SALVATION

Our father and God, eternal king of Glory, there is no blemish in you, there is nothing we can find faulty in you, today we have come, submitting our lives to you, we ask that you please have your way, lead us right, direct us and keep us by your power, may we stand out in our positions in Jesus name, Amen!
